    The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) announced today that reported trading volume at CBOE on Friday, January 20th was more than 5.3 million contracts, setting a new record for the busiest single trading day in the Exchange's 33 year history, and the busiest day for any U.S. options exchange. The previous record of 3.97 million contracts was set at CBOE on April 15, 2005.     The American Stock Exchange (Amex) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 769,610,713 shares as of the January 13, 2006 settlement date, a decrease of 232,871 from the 769,843,584 (adjusted) shares reported in mid-December. The January figure represents trades through January 10, 2006.
