CBOT Update Regarding System Issue From Aug 4, 2006

SUMMARY: Today, at 9:30 a.m. Chicago time, the e-cbot trading host moved all products to a closed state due to a software issue relating to the opening uncrossing algorithm for agricultural products. At that time, all day orders in the system were automatically canceled. During the closed state, open auction products remained open. In advance of this week's Federal Open Market Committee meeting on August 8, the Chicago Board of Trade will be reporting daily rate change probabilities in the FOMC's federal funds target rate, as indicated by the CBOT 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract. The CBOT 30-Day Federal Funds futures contract is a key benchmark interest rate barometer that reflects the forward overnight effective rate for excess reserves that are traded among commercial banks in the U.S. federal funds market.
