The Baltic Exchange is set to lay the foundations for a new Exchange with the introduction of its electronic platform later this summer, declared Peter Kitching, Chairman of the Exchange today (Wednesday).

UK Companies Are Leaders In New FTSE4Good Index

Final details including criteria and constituents for FTSE4Good, the new index series for socially responsible investors, were revealed today. A greater percentage of UK companies qualify for inclusion in FTSE4Good than companies from any other country, reflecting the high standards of corporate social responsibility (CSR) adopted by UK business. The index series, which aims to raise $US one million for UNICEF in its first twelve months, will go live on July 31.

The Central Bank Of Iceland Auctions Repurchase Agreements For 34 Billion Krónur

The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on July 10 of the maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 10.9 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 34 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.

Mr. Yuth Vorachattarn, Executive Vice President of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Managing Director of the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI) revealed that he has accepted a position of Managing Director, Bangkok Metropolitan Bank Public Company Limited which will be effective in August 2001.

Richard H. Walker, Director Of Enforcement, To Leave The SEC - Ten-Year Tenure At Commission Also Includes Service As General Counsel And Director Of Northeast Regional Office

Richard H. Walker, Director of the Securities and Exchange Commission's Division of Enforcement, announced today that after 10 years of service, he will be leaving the Commission and will return to the private sector. He has not yet accepted a new position and will remain at the Commission for a short period to assist with the transition to a new Chairman.

LME Select Adds New Flexibility: Opening Hours Changed - New Lot Sizes Announced - Release 2 Launch Set For 10 September

The London Metal Exchange today announced changes to the operating parameters of its screen trading system, LME Select, to meet user requirements. The Exchange also said that Release 2 of the system would go live on 10 September 2001.

virt-x Completes Phased Launch Of Pan-European Blue Chip Market

virt-x plc announced today that from 8.00am this morning the virt-x pan-European blue chip equity market will, as planned, offer trading in the constituents of all the European blue chip indices bringing the total number of stocks traded on virt-x to 613 - these stocks represent approximately 80% of European market capitalisation. This completes the phased launch of the virt-x market that commenced on 25 June 2001.
