CESR Welcomes Progress In MiFID Implementation, Takes Steps To Facilitate Firms Crossborder Business By Streamlining Supervision Of Branches, And Issues Practical Arrangements To Ease Transition For Firms

CESR welcomes the successful implementation of MiFID in nearly all EU Member States. MiFID will become applicable on 1 November, 2007 and will benefit issuers and investors by opening up markets and cutting the costs of securities trading. MiFID will simplify and streamline the passporting regime for firms doing cross-border business, increasing competition and enabling greater EU financial integration.

Thailand Depository’s Post-Trade Integration System Up And Ready To Go

After four years of development, Thailand Securities Depository Co., Ltd. (TSD) now (from October 22 on) provides post-trade services on its Post-Trade Integration (PTI) system. With the PTI system, equity depository, clearing and settlement and registrar operations are automatically linked. The infrastructure boosts service efficiency and, as it meets international standards, can handle overseas connections.

SGX-Listed Exchange Traded Funds Set New Weekly Volume Record

Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) announced today that the volume of SGX-listed Exchange Traded Funds (ETF) traded hit a new record last week. Total trading value of SGX-listed ETFs was S$99.6 million for the week of 15-19 October 2007. This exceeds the previous record of S$85 million traded in the week of 25-29 September 2006.
