Standard & Poor's Announces Changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index

Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Friday, January 25, 2008: Rival Energy Ltd. (TSXVN:RGY) will be removed from the index. The company will be delisted from TSX Venture Exchange as a result of a Plan of Arrangement with Zargon.

NASDAQ Announces Mid-month Open Short Interest Positions In NASDAQ Stocks As Of Settlement Date January 15, 2008

At the end of the settlement date of January 15, 2008, short interest in 2,707 NASDAQ Global Market(sm) securities totaled 8,493,175,740 shares compared with 7,925,466,682 shares in 2,697 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of December 31, 2007. The mid-January short interest represents 4.49 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 4.40 days for the prior reporting period.

NYMEX To Change Margins For Gold Futures Contracts

Following the success of the Tel-Bond 20 index inaugurated a year ago, on February 3rd, 2008 the TASE launched two new indices: The Tel-Bond 40 – Shall include rated fixed-interest corporate bonds linked to the consumer price index that have the highest market capitalization among the bonds not included in the Tel-Bond 20 index. Ladies and Gentlemen, As the European Commissioner in charge of the Internal Market, I was pleased to learn that since the 1st January 2008, Sankt Galler Bratwurst, Saucisson vaudois, Coppa and Appenzeller Mostbröckli [different sausage and dried meat specialities] can be exported from Switzerland into the EU without export tax – at least up 2,000 tonnes worth. That is quite a lot of sausage and dried meat if you think about it. This surely is good news for gourmets
