SEC Chairman Cox Statement On MOU With Federal Reserve, CFTC To Address Credit Default Swaps

Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox today executed, on behalf of the SEC, a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Reserve Board and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission dealing with central counterparties for over-the-counter credit default swaps.

NYSE Arca last-trade data is now available online from CNBC , First in Business Worldwide, and Google Finance, thereby broadening the availability of free real-time stock prices available to investors beyond regular trading hours to pre- and post-market hours trade data in NYSE (Tape A), NYSE Alternext US (formerly Amex; Tape B) and Nasdaq (Tape C) listed securities.

ASIC Lifts Ban On Covered Short Selling For Non-Financial Securities

ASIC yesterday said it would, as expected, lift the current ban on short selling of non-financial securities from opening of trading on 19 November 2008 but would continue the ban on covered short sales in financial securities.

At the 21th Board of Director’s meeting held on November 14, 2008, the Board decided to move trading for non-GMO Soybeans futures from the call session (Itayose) to the continuous electronic trading platform beginning from January 5, 2009*.

On November 13th, 2008 the number of trades made on FORTS hit the record high. By the closure of the main trading session FORTS members made 201 390 trades in futures and options. The previous record was set on September 10th, 2008 with the number of trades reaching 172 300.
