The London Metal Exchange Successfully Meets Record Trading - Record Volumes For Cinnober Delivered LMEselect

The London Metal Exchange (LME) and Cinnober have carried out a major upgrade of the commodities exchange's electronic trading platform LMEselect. Since the first delivered system version from Cinnober back in late 2003 the total number of trades per month have increased by over 30 times, from approximately 6,000 to nearly 180,000.

The European Energy Exchange AG (EEX) and Eurex achieved the highest monthly volume to date in October 2008 in their jointly-operated market for CO2 emission rights. EUA futures traded 16,666,000 t CO2, 17 times higher compared with October 2007 (977,000 t CO2). October volumes grew by 90 percent compared with the previous record month August 2008.

In October 2008, the trading volume of Three-month Euroyen futures was 1,340,156, decreasing 49.5% in comparison to that of the prior year comparable month, and decreasing 22.8% in comparison to that of the prior month, and the average daily volume was 60,916. The trading volume of Options on Three-month Euroyen futures was 53,312, decreasing 84.8% in comparison to that of the prior year comparable month, and increasing 10.5% in comparison to that of the prior month.
