BATS Global Markets (BATS) today reported volume numbers for the month of November, including the following: BATS Europe reported a new consolidated monthly market share record in Europe overall (6.6%) and also in nine European indices, including London’s FTSE 100 (11.6%), the Swiss SMI (8.9%), Helsinki’s OMXH25 (8.7%), the STOXX Europe 50 (7.8%), Copenhagen’s OMXC20 (6.7%), Amsterdam’s AEX (6.7%), Germany’s DAX (6.6%), Stockholm’s OMXS30 (6.3%) and Belgium’s BEL 20 (4.8%). MGEX Sets New Volume And Open Interest Records In November

MGEX, a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO), today announced November month end volume and open interest records. Total November volume reached 182,719 futures and options contracts traded, making it the best November volume on record and the eighth highest volume month in the history of the Exchange. KCBT HRW Wheat Futures Volume Third Largest In Exchange History - New November Volume Records Set For Exchange And HRW Futures

The Kansas City Board of Trade set a new exchange trading volume record for the month of November as a total of 624,481 contracts were traded, breaking the previous record of 472,244 set in 2005 by 32.2 percent. Total exchange volume was 38.9 percent higher than last month. The exchange only needs to trade 48,734 contracts to set a new annual volume record. OCC Announces Total Contract Volume In November Increased 33%

The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) announced today that total OCC volume reached 354,897,569 contracts in November. This represents a 33% percent increase over the November 2009 volume of 266,989,810 contracts. OCC year-to-date total volume is up 8% with 3,581,480,630 contracts, only 43,540,423 contracts away from last year’s annual total. As of the end of November, OCC’s year-to-date cleared futures volume is 23,619,380, nearly double the 2009 annual total of 12,383,935 contracts.

I was thinking of how my mother used to take what was left of the Thanksgiving turkey carcass and make it into a delicious turkey soup sometime later. As the carcass simmered, the meat that was left would fall off the bones and the aroma and the flavor were both terrific.
