August Is Most Active Trading Month Of Year At CBOE Futures Exchange - Average Daily Volume Rose 23% From July, 16% Above Year-Ago, Fourth Consecutive Month-Over-Month Volume Gain

The CBOE Futures Exchange, LLC (CFE) today announced that August was the most active month of trading during 2009.Average daily volume during August 2009 was 5,025 contracts, exceeding 4,084 contracts per day during July 2009 by 23 percent.When compared to a year ago, the average daily volume during August was 16 percent above 4,343 contracts per day during the same month last year.August was the fourth consecutive month this year that CFE posted month-over-month volume gains.

Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Tuesday, September 1, 2009: The shares of Chapleau Resources Ltd. (TSXVN:CHI) will be removed from the index. Magellan Minerals Ltd. (TSXVN:MNM) has agreed to acquire all of the issued and outstanding shares of Chapleau under a statutory plan of arrangement.

MGEX Reports Strong August 2009 Volume And Open Interest Growth

MGEX (Minneapolis Grain Exchange or Exchange) August 2009 volume increased 37 percent over July to 118,252 contracts traded. Futures trading of the flagship Hard Red Spring Wheat (HRSW) contract increased by 36 percent while options trading increased by 75 percent.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today announced the participants for the two agencies’ joint meetings to seek input from the public on harmonization of market regulation. The SEC and the CFTC expect these meetings will provide the agencies valuable insight on any recommendations for changes to their statutes and regulations that would eliminate regulatory differences with respect to similar types of financial instruments.
