SEC Charges Maxwell Technologies For Long-Running Bribery Scheme In China

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged energy-related products manufacturer Maxwell Technologies Inc. with violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) by repeatedly paying bribes to government officials in China to obtain business from several Chinese state-owned entities.

NYSE Liffe To Launch Equity Options On Aperam

Today NYSE Liffe, the Europe-based derivatives business of NYSE Euronext (NYX), announced that it will add options on the shares of Aperam (ticker symbol: APAM) to its highly successful range of equity option classes. The launch of these options follows the successful listing of Aperam, the demerged stainless, electrical and specialty steel activities of ArcelorMittal, which took place on January 26. On the same day Aperam was also included in the AEX-index. The Aperam options will be introduced on the Amsterdam derivatives market of NYSE Liffe.

Dubai Financial Market announced today its full readiness to introduce the new settlement mechanism “Delivery versus Payment” (DvP). DFM has completed all the technical requirements to apply DvP in coordination with custodians and brokerage firms. The exchange is poised to be at the forefront of regional markets to adopt DvP before the end of the first quarter 2011. This development is phase one of DFM‘s drive to implement international best practices, whilst continuing to respond to the UAE Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) future regulations and closely cooperating with SCA in its efforts to develop the financial markets in the UAE. Phase two will include getting DFM geared up for the introduction of “Short Selling” and “Securities Borrowing and Lending” later this year.

ICE Futures Europe Sets Daily Volume And WTI Crude Futures Records

IntercontinentalExchange, Inc. (NYSE: ICE), a leading operator of global regulated futures exchanges, clearing houses and over-the-counter (OTC) markets, announced that ICE Futures Europe set an exchange-wide daily volume record of 1,492,384 contracts on 28 January. The new record surpassed by 4.4% the previous daily record of 1,429,283 contracts, which was established on 12 January 2011.

CME Group Announces Record Volume For Its Light Sweet Crude Oil (WTI) Futures And Options Contracts

CME Group, the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, today announced record volume for its global benchmark Light Sweet Crude Oil (WTI) futures and options contracts. On Friday, January 28, WTI futures reached a record of 1,472,088 contracts, surpassing the previous record of 1,423,536 contracts set on April 13, 2010. WTI daily options volume also reached a record of 290,365 contracts, surpassing the prior record of 282,860 contracts set on September 16, 2008.
