FSB Completes Peer Review Of Switzerland

The  Financial  Stability  Board  (FSB)  published today  the  report  on  the  peer  review  of Switzerland. The  main  purpose  of  the  report  is  to  assess  Switzerland’s  progress  in addressing regulatory and supervisory issues raised by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP) in 2006-07. The report also provides an overview of market and regulatory developments since the FSAP was published.

FINRA Fines Merrill Lynch $1 Million For Failure to Arbitrate Disputes With Employees

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) announced today that it has fined Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith $1 million for failing to arbitrate disputes with employees relating to retention bonuses. Registered representatives who participated in the bonus program had to sign a promissory note that prevented them from arbitrating disagreements relating to the note, forcing the registered representatives to resolve disputes in New York state courts.

The Kansas City Board of Trade announces 2012 officers and directors, who took office at a regular board meeting held yesterday. Members of the Kansas City Board of Trade elected Steven K. Campbell, Vice President & Director North America Wheat Trading, Louis Dreyfus Commodities, LLC as chairman in an election held earlier this month. Campbell served as first vice chairman of the KCBT in 2011 and as second vice chairman in 2010. The first vice chairman traditionally has assumed the chairmanship of the KCBT in the following year.
