OCC Chief Counsel Testifies On Community Banks

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency’s Chief Counsel Amy Friend discussed efforts to minimize the regulatory burden facing community banks and savings associations while maintaining safety and soundness of the federal banking system during her testimony before the U.S. House of Representatives’ Financial Services Committee today.

FINRA Launches Retrospective Rule Review - First Round Addresses Rules On Communications With The Public And Gifts And Gratuities

The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) issued two new Regulatory Notices as part of an initiative to conduct retrospective rule reviews on an ongoing basis. Regulatory Notice 14-14 requests comment on the effectiveness and efficiency of FINRA's communications with the public rules, while Regulatory Notice 14-15 requests comment on gifts, gratuities and non-cash compensation rules. FINRA's retrospective rule reviews are designed to ensure that FINRA's rules remain relevant and appropriately designed to achieve their objectives.

CBOE Statement On Today's Court Ruling In Favor Of CBOE In ISE Patent Litigation

The Chicago Board Options Exchange, Incorporated® (CBOE®) announced today the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled in its favor in a seven-year-old patent litigation with the International Securities Exchange (ISE), in which ISE claimed that CBOE's Hybrid system infringed ISE's patent for an automated exchange.

ISE Lists Additional 650 Products

ISE announced today that it has successfully completed the rollout of 650 additional equity options products on the exchange. With the addition of these symbols, ISE now lists equity options covering more than 99% of average daily volume for multiply-listed products.

SEC, Criminal Authorities Halt Florida-Based Ponzi Scheme Targeting Investors Through YouTube Videos

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced fraud charges and an asset freeze against the operators of a South Florida-based Ponzi scheme targeting investors through YouTube videos and selling them investments in a product called virtual concierge machines (VCMs) that would purportedly generate guaranteed returns of 300 to 500 percent in four years.
