Comptroller Of The Currency Highlights Regulators' Work To Minimize Risks Of Cyberattacks

Comptroller of the Currency Thomas J. Curry today discussed what regulators are doing to meet the challenge of cyberattacks. During his remarks before The New England Council, the Comptroller emphasized the need for banks to implement robust programs to mitigate cybersecurity risk particularly those posed by over reliance on third-party service providers.

Canadian Securities Administrators Publishes Proposed Amendments To Order Protection Rule For Comment

The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) yesterday published for comment proposed amendments to National Instrument 23-101 Trading Rules (NI 23-101). These proposals follow a review of the Order Protection Rule (OPR) framework and seek to address certain costs and inefficiencies related to the current application of OPR, as well as concerns related to trading fees and market data fees.

EBA Publishes Opinion On Measures To Address Macroprudential Or Systemic Risk

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today an Opinion following the notification by the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) of its intention to modify capital requirements in order to address an increase in macroprudential or systemic risk that could have a severe impact on the financial system and the Belgian real economy. Based on the evidence submitted by the NBB, the EBA does not object the adoption of the proposed measures, which are in line with Article 458 of the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR).

SEC Warns Investors About Marijuana-Related Investments Amid Recent Trading Suspensions

The Securities and Exchange Commission today cautioned investors about the potential for fraud in microcap companies that claim their operations relate to the marijuana industry after the agency suspended trading in the fifth such company within the past two months.
