NSD And Interfax Begin Testing The Single Disclosure Window Service

National Settlement Depository (NSD), Russia’s central securities depository, and Interfax’s Center for Disclosing Corporate Information began testing the first version of the Single Disclosure Window. This service will give issuers the ability to disclose material facts via information agencies’ news feeds, and also to inform NSD’s Corporate Actions Center about corporate actions.

CFTC Charges The Kane Capital Investment Group, LLC And Amrit Chahal Of Virginia With Operating A Commodity Pool Ponzi Scheme

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) yesterday filed a civil enforcement action in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia against Defendants The Kane Capital Investment Group, LLC (Kane Capital), a commodity pool organized in Virginia, and its principal, Amrit Jaswant Singh Chahal (Chahal) of Fairfax, Virginia. The CFTC Complaint charges Defendants with commodity futures fraud, commodity pool fraud, and illegally commingling Kane Capital’s funds with Chahal’s personal funds. The Complaint also charges Chahal with failing to register with the CFTC as a Commodity Pool Operator, as required.

US Department Of Justice Begins Second Distribution Of Funds Recovered Through Asset Forfeiture Totaling $1.2 Billion To Compensate Victims Of Bernard Madoff Fraud Scheme

The Department of Justice today announced that on April 12, the Madoff Victim Fund (MVF) began its second distribution of $504 million in funds forfeited to the U.S. Government in connection with the Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC (BLMIS) fraud scheme, bringing the total distributed to over $1.2 billion. These funds will be sent to over 21,000 victims across the globe. This distribution represents the second in a series of payments that will eventually return over $4 billion to victims as compensation for losses they suffered from the collapse of the BLMIS. The MVF has received over 65,000 petitions from victims in 136 countries.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced that Judge John J. Tuchi of the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona entered an Order of Default Judgment and Permanent Injunction against Defendants Cory Williams of Gilbert, Arizona, and his company, Williams Advisory Group, LLC (WAG), in connection with a commodity pool fraud that victimized 40 pool participants, including Williams’ family, friends, neighbors, and members of his church and other related churches in and around Phoenix, Arizona.
