The Economic Impact Of Smart Ledgers On World Trade - By Douglas McWilliams, Cristian Niculescu-Marcu, and Beatriz Cruz, Long Finance

Long Finance's Distributed Futures research programme is pleased to announce the publication of the report, “The Economic Impact Of Smart Ledgers On World Trade”, the latest in a series of exciting projects in the programme. The report, sponsored by the Cardano Foundation, came as a result of the the Worshipful Company of World Traders and the Distributed Futures' interest in quantifying the potential impact of Smart Ledger technology on international trade. Written by Douglas McWilliams, Cristian Niculescu-Marcu, and Beatriz Cruz from the Centre for Economics and Business Research (Cebr), it includes a Foreword by Michael Parsons FCA, Chairman of Cardano Foundation, and a Preface by Professor Michael Mainelli, Executive Chairman of Z/Yen Group.

HKEX Confirms Date For After-Hours Trading Of Equity Index Options And Outlines New Trading Halt Feature For Options Trading In T+1 Session

- HKEX’s three most actively traded equity index options (HSI, HSCEI and Mini-HSI options) to be included in derivatives market’s after-hours trading (5:15 pm to 1 am) from 14 May 2018
- First options to be available for after-hours trading
- New Trading Halt Mechanism to be introduced to after-hours trading for above options products as part of measures to maintain market integrity

Many financial services providers already operate across borders in different Member States. Like for other sectors, the case for EU-wide collective redress for financial services is clear and in the interest of EU citizens as retail investors and pension savers. Over the years there have been numerous mis-selling scandals in the financial services industry that have harmed individual investors. In many of these cases the lack of collective redress mechanisms prevented victims from seeking compensation for losses and damages suffered1. Consequently, consumers and investors have lost confidence in financial services and their providers which is clearly reflected in the EC Consumer Markets Scoreboard where “retail” financial services are ranked as one of the worst consumer markets in the entire EU.

BNP Paribas Asset Management Appoints Head Of Pension Solutions

BNP Paribas Asset Management (‘BNPP AM’) announces that it has appointed Julien Halfon as Head of Pension Solutions within its Multi Asset, Quantitative & Solutions investment group (‘MAQS’). Julien joined on 16 April and reports to Anton Wouters, Head of Solutions & Client Advisory, responsible for providing advice and designing dedicated solutions, including quantitative strategies and fiduciary and liability-driven investment (‘LDI’) management, for institutional investors such as pension funds and insurance companies.

Seismic Foundry Portfolio Firms Join SEI Incubator Codify

Three of the portfolio firms that were invested in by the Seismic Foundry Capital Markets FinTech fund have joined the SEI supported incubator, Codify, based in their Alphabeta building in Finsbury Square, London. Kite Edge, Lodestar-Ecosystems and Waymark Tech joined the incubator this week for a 16-week period, while Enforcd have already benefitted from the programme last year.
