Nadex Self-Certifies Weather Event Contract

Pursuant to Section 5c(c)(1) of the Commodity Exchange Act, as amended (“Act”), and Section 40.2(a) of the regulations promulgated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (the “Commission”) under the Act (the “Regulations”), North American Derivatives Exchange, Inc. (“Nadex”, the “Exchange”), Nadex self-certified the terms and conditions for its new Weather Event Contract. These contracts will be listed on or after trade date January 28, 2025.

Thank you, Dave [Lynn], for that kind introduction. I appreciate the opportunity to deliver the Alan B. Levenson Keynote Address, named in honor of the former director of the Division of Corporation Finance (Corp Fin). Alan started his service at the Commission during the tenure of Chairman Edward “Ned” Gadsby, who was appointed by President Eisenhower. During his service, the Commission and its staff operated in a very different manner. It is hard to imagine a Corp Fin staff member today questioning a notorious figure such as former Teamsters president Jimmy Hoffa in a public hearing—but that is what Alan was able to do.

ISDA derivatiViews: A Critical Step To Efficient Treasury Clearing

By the end of this year, the first prong of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) Treasury clearing mandate will come into force. This is part of a regulatory effort to make the financial system more robust, but it will also come with added costs – which is why recent proposals from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the SEC to allow an existing cross-margining arrangement offered by the Fixed Income Clearing Corporation (FICC) and CME Group to be extended to clients is so important to ensuring Treasury clearing can be implemented efficiently.

SEC And CFTC Reschedule Joint Event On Harmonization, U.S. Financial Leadership In The Crypto Era

Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Paul S. Atkins and Commodity Futures Trading Commission Chairman Michael S. Selig will hold a joint event, previously scheduled for Jan. 27, now rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at CFTC headquarters to discuss harmonization between the two agencies and their efforts to deliver on President Trump’s promise to make the United States the crypto capital of the world.

US Treasury Cancels Contracts With Booz Allen Hamilton

Today, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent announced the cancelation of all contracts with consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton. The Treasury Department currently has 31 separate contracts with Booz Allen Hamilton totaling $4.8 million in annual spending and $21 million in total obligations.
