The Stock Exchange Of Hong Kong Announces First Batch MWS Rollout

The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong will introduce the first batch of Multi-workstation Systems (MWS) of AMS/3, the Third Generation Automatic Order Matching and Execution System, over a two-week period starting 4 December, following the successful launch of the eight pilot MWS. The rollout is part of the Stock Exchange’s plan to progressively introduce MWS and additional Broker Supplied Systems to the market over the next few months.

SEC Amends OPRA Plan To Allocate OPRA Systems Capacity Among Options Markets During Peak Usage Periods

The Securities and Exchange Commission yesterday (November 27) issued an order that amends the Options Price Reporting Authority (OPRA) Plan for Reporting of Consolidated Options Last Sale Reports and Quotation Information (OPRA Plan) by allocating OPRA systems capacity during peak usage periods pursuant to a formula.

The Philadelphia Stock Exchange (PHLX) announced today that it will begin trading put and call options on Alcatel SA -ADR (option /stock symbol: ALA); Bear Stearns Companies Inc.; (option/stock symbol BSC), Sybase Inc.; (option/stock symbol: SBQ/SYBS); Valence Technology Inc. (option/stock symbol VHQ/VLNC) and Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (option/stock symbol VSH) upon the opening of business on Friday, December 1, 2000.

NYSE Announces Third-Quarter 2000 Financial Results

The New York Stock Exchange reported revenues of $606.6 million and net income of $73.1 million in the first nine months of 2000, as compared with $551.2 million and $76.0 million in the same period a year ago.

Nymex To Increase Natural Gas Margins

The New York Mercantile Exchange will raise the margins on its Henry Hub natural gas contract at the close of business tomorrow to $7,500 from $6,500 for clearing members; $8,250 from $7,150 for members; and $10,125 from $8,775 for customers.

Nasdaq Experiences System Interruption Prior To Close

The Nasdaq Stock Market® today said that at about 3:40 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), the Nasdaq quote engine failed to allow Market Makers to update and view quotes. In response to this, Nasdaq suspended the Small Order Execution System (SOES) and SelectNet at about 3:49 p.m. The Nasdaq quote engine was restored incrementally just before 4:00 p.m., so most Market Makers were not able to view and update quotes until shortly after the market closed.
