The Stock Exchange, Mumbai (BSE) will be shifting it's equity benchmark, SENSEX to the free-float methodology with effect from 1st September 2003. Currently, SENSEX is calculated based on the full market capitalization methodology.

Stock Exchange of Thailand To Set Aside 10 Million Baht To Provide An Intensive Course To Promote Listed Companies' Good Governance

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) will delegate a budget of 10 million baht to hold an intensive program, the "Directors Accreditation Program" (DAP), for directors of listed companies. The purpose is to increase the number of company leaders knowledgeable about the roles, responsibilities and accountability of good directors, which in turn will increase the market's trustworthiness among investors. The program is expected to train 2,000 directors.
Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In S&P/TSX Canadian Indices

Standard & Poor's Canadian Index Operations announces the following index change effective after the close of business on Monday, July 21, 2003: The relative weight of Acclaim Energy Trust (TSX:AE.UN) will increase by approximately 0.20% in the S&P/TSX Capped Income Trust Index and by approximately 0.42% in the S&P/TSX Capped Energy Trust Index. The relative weight change reflects an adjustment to the float trust units of the income trust due to the issuance of units.

Nymex To List PJM Monthly Electricity Futures Through 2005

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., will list an additional year of trading in the PJM monthly electricity futures contract, beginning on July 24 for the July 25 trading session.
New York Stock Exchange To Halt Trading On The American Depositary Shares Of Telecom Italia S.p.A.

The New York Stock Exchange announced that trading in the American Depositary Shares of Telecom Italia S.p.A. -- ticker symbols TI and TI.A -- will be halted at 11 AM because the offer to purchase the American Depositary Shares of Telecom Italia S.p.A. by Olivetti S.p.A., is set to expire today at 11:40 AM. The halt will be in effect until the results of the offer to purchase by Olivetti S.p.A., is received.

Dmitry Ponomarev Elected Chairman Of The RTS Board Of Directors

The Board of Directors of the non-profit partnership "RTS Stock Exchange" gathered for the first time after the June 26th, 2003, annual meeting of RTS Partnership, to elect the Chairman of the Board. With 12 votes "for" and 1 "abstained" Dmitry V. Ponomarev was elected Chairman of the Board of the RTS Stock Exchange.
