May Volume: CME May Volume Reaches 55.4 Million Contracts, Averaging 2.64 Million Contracts Per Day - GLOBEXÒ Electronic Trading Volume Totals 21.3 Million, Up 55 Percent Over May 2002

Trading volume on Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) averaged 2.64 million contracts per day during May, an increase of 29 percent over May 2002. Including more than 21 million contracts traded on CME's GLOBEXÒ electronic trading platform-a 55 percent increase over May 2002-CME May volume totalled 55.4 million contracts.

Cash products In May 2003, cash product transactions saw significant growth of 18,6% year-on-year: almost 12,5 million transactions registered in May have resulted in a total of nearly 62 million transactions on the Euronext electronic central order book since January, an increase of 15,4% year-to-date.

Kansas City Board Of Trade Trading Volume Best Ever For Month Of May

The Kansas City Board of Trade volume traded during the month of May shattered all previous records for the calendar month of May. Total exchange volume amounted to 284,578 contracts, breaking the previous May exchange record set in 2001 by 27.7 percent or 61,799 contracts.

GTCR Announces Deal To Acquire American Stock Exchange

GTCR Golder Rauner, LLC, a leading private equity firm, today announced that it has entered into a letter of intent to acquire ownership of the American Stock Exchange, LLC (Amex) from NASD. The transaction is structured at a valuation of approximately $110 million. Closing is anticipated following the completion of definitive documentation and receipt of approvals from various parties, including the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Eurex: Eurex Turns Over 78 Million Contracts In May - Trading Volume 31.5 Percent Higher Year On Year - Eurex Bonds Shows 54 Percent Increase In Volume Year On Year - Record Results In French Equity Options

Eurex, the international derivatives market, traded and cleared over 78 million contracts in May. The world's leading derivatives exchange posted a 31.5 percent increase in volume for the month compared with May 2002. During the first five months of the year 2003, the market participants, who are connected to Eurex worldwide from 650 locations, turned over a total of some 422 million contracts, 40 percent more than during the same period of the previous year.

Deutsche Börse: 246 Billion Euros In Turnover On The German Stock Exchanges In May

The aggregate turnover statistics for May 2003 show that a total volume of some 246 billion euros was traded on the German stock exchanges - about five percent less than the previous month (April 2003: 259 billion euros). The total comprises some 182 billion euros in equities, warrants and exchange-traded funds as well as 64 billion euros in fixed-income securities.
