Eurex Extends Terms For German Equity Options - Extension From 24 Months To 60 Months From October 18, 2004 - Increasing Demand For Equity Options With Longer Terms

The international derivatives market Eurex is extending the maximum terms of four German equity options to five years. Effective October 18, the world’s largest equity options exchange will extend the terms of four German equity options from currently 24 months to a maximum of 60 months. This change will affect options on the equities BASF, E.ON, Munich Re und RWE.

Deutsche Börse Adjusts Criteria For The Start Of Index Calculation

Deutsche Börse has adjusted the criteria it uses to calculate its equity indices at the start of trading. As of October 18, Deutsche Börse will calculate its equity indices only once a minimum number of current prices are available for each index. The new criteria will mean the opening balance of the indices better represents the current situation on the markets, making the Deutsche Börse indices more attractive for issuers of certificates and warrants and for those investing in these products.

Citadel To Open Operations On Pacific Exchange

The Pacific Exchange (PCX) announced today that Citadel Derivatives Group LLC will begin making markets at the PCX in November 2004. The firm will open its PCX operations as a Remote Market Maker (RMM) on PCX Plus, the Pacific's new electronic trading system. Citadel plans to launch operations as a Lead Market Maker (LMM) on the PCX trading floor in January 2005.

CFTC Revises Financial Reporting By FCMs To Reflect Risk-Based Capital

Effective September 30, 2004, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has adopted a new risk-based approach to setting minimum capital requirements for futures commission merchants (FCMs), which uses percentages of the maintenance margins for positions that FCMs carry for their customers and for certain FCM affiliates and employees.

CBOT® Announces Market Maker Program For Electronically Traded Full-Sized Gold And Silver Futures Contracts - Contracts To Launch On October 6

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today the approval of six firms to act as Electronic Market Makers (EMM) for CBOT full-sized Gold and Silver futures contracts. The objective of the EMM program is to provide liquidity in the exchange's new 100 percent electronic metals contracts, effective on the October 6, 2004, launch date.

TSX Markets To Close POSIT Canada Facility - Last Day Of Trading Will Be December 31, 2004

TSX Markets today announced it has agreed with the POSIT Joint Venture* to close the POSIT Canada facility on Toronto Stock Exchange effective December 31, 2004. The facility is being closed because the Canadian marketplace demand and usage does not support the continued operation of the POSIT Canada facility.
