Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Inc Crop Year-To-Date Volume Ahead Of A Year Ago

Crop year-to-date futures volume on Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Inc. at the end of January 2005 was 3.4% higher than a year ago. There have been 956,730 futures contracts traded on the Exchange since August 1, 2004.

Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Canola Futures Prices Continue Downward Trend

Canola futures prices at the Winnipeg Commodity Exchange continued their downward trend during the month of January. The March 2005 contract closed the month at $252.20 per metric tonne, down $20.40 from December 31. The nearby contract has not traded this low since November 2000. Slow demand and the large supply of canola in Western Canada and large supplies of canola/ rapeseed and other oil crops worldwide have continued to be a bearish influence. NYBOT’s January Volume Up 29% YTD

Trading volume at the New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®), the world’s leading “soft” commodity exchange, continued its upward climb for yet another month as January 2005 saw a 29% increase (Year-To-Date or YTD) in combined futures and options volume, with 2,832,514 2005 futures and options contracts changing hands in January 2005, versus 2,187,403 contracts in January 2004. The NYBOT combined futures and options open interest set a record on January 31 of 1,866,175 contracts.

NYBOT Announces Coffee Warehouse Moratorium

The New York Board of Trade® (NYBOT®) announced today that it has instituted an immediate moratorium on any further certification of coffee being stored at American Warehousing of NY, Inc. Pier 8, in the Port of New York.
