Company Circle Launched In São Paulo To Support Corporate Governance Initiatives In Latin America - The Initiative Intends To Disseminate Best Governance Practices Among Companies In The Region

On May 11, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) launched the Companies Circle at BOVESPA as part of the Latin American Corporate Governance Roundtable. The initiative aims to gather a select group of reputable Latin American companies known for their corporate governance initiatives to divulge their experiences and stimulate other companies from the region to adopt these practices.

CME Announces Certified Options Partner Program - Twelve Firms To Provide Front-End Solutions For Options Trading

As part of its initiative for increasing the volume of electronic trading for options on foreign exchange, equity indexes and interest rates, CME, the largest futures exchange in the U.S., today announced the new CME-Certified Options Partner Program listed below. This program fosters collaboration between CME and the CME Options Program Partners so that enhanced CME Options products and functionality are available to the marketplace upon CME launch.

ChinaAMC Adopts FTSE Xinhua High Yield 150 Index For High Yield Fund

FTSE Xinhua Index (FXI), the leading China index provider, and China Asset Management Co., Ltd (ChinaAMC), one of China’s largest asset management companies, have recently signed a licensing agreement that enables ChinaAMC to launch the first high yield fund, a new-kind of investment vehicle, in China.

CBOT Exchange-Wide Open Interest Surpasses 15 Million Contracts

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) announced today that on Wednesday, May 18, Exchange-wide open interest rose to a new record, surpassing 15 million contracts. Total Exchange open interest increased to 15,113,459 contracts, exceeding the previous record of 14,934,632 contracts set on May 17, 2005.

American Stock Exchange Reports Increase In Short Interest

The American Stock Exchange (Amex) member and non-member organizations today reported short interest of 797,486,110 shares as of the May 13 settlement date, an increase of 30,080,104 from the 767,406,006 (adjusted) shares reported in mid-April. The May figure represents trades through May 10, 2005.

UK's Financial Services Authority Wants To See Improvements In Key Facts Documents

The Financial Services Authority is calling for mortgage firms to improve the quality of their Key Facts documents and has offered to work with the industry to help raise the standard. Key Facts documents are important as they are intended to deliver clearer, simpler and more user-friendly information to consumers, but the FSA has identified variable quality and widespread inaccuracies in many of them and wants firms to undertake a review of their own documentation.
