CESR Reviews Its Old Standards And The Implementation Of UCITS Guidelines

CESR publishes today the results of CESR members’ self-assessment of their implementation of the CESR Guidelines to simplify the notification procedure of UCITS ("the guidelines") (CESR/08-113), and the results of CESR’s revision of its FESCO/CESR standards, guidelines and recommendations which are now superseded by the Lamfalussy Directives
NZX Operating Metrics - Q1 2008

Highlights Total capital raised year to date was $811 million. Number of NZX real-time data terminals up 24% with 10,990 worldwide. Trading of instalment warrants up 33% on Q1 2007 with 3,464 trades and $20 million traded. Smartshares funds under management (FUM) is $669 million across its five ETFs, a 29% increase on the same period last year. Smartshares has a total of 15,157 unitholders.

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Ltd. (SEHK), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd. (HKEx), today publish a joint consultation paper on the proposal to allow the issue of paper application forms for public offers which have electronic prospectuses available on certain prescribed websites.

The Sistema de Interconexión Bursátil Español (SIBE) traded €383.19 billion in equities during the period January to March 2008, down 8.3% in relation to the record figure of the first quarter of 2007 and 41.8% up on the €270.29 billion traded during the first quarter of 2006. The number of trades (the main indicator of stock market activity) during the first quarter of 2008 was 10.2 million, up 16% on the same quarter of the previous year.

Deutsche Börse has expanded its index offering further. The DAXglobal® Water Index is the first index launched by the company to track the world’s largest and most liquid companies from the water industry. Deutsche Börse has also launched seven new short indices, which investors can use as a hedge against falling prices in the emerging markets.

Highlights Total capital raised on NZX Markets year to date reached $811 million. There was $648 million in debt and $119 million in equity capital raised during the month. The number of NZX real time Data terminals was 10,990, an increase of 24% on the same period last year. Smartshares funds under management up 29% since March 2007, at $669 million. Smartshares has 15,157 unitholders, an increase of 1%.
