SEC Charges 14 In $64 Million Penny Stock Scheme

The Securities and Exchange Commission today charged 11 individuals and three companies, alleging they conspired to illegally issue and sell unregistered stock in a purported diamond and gold mining company and lined their pockets with more than $64 million from 40,000 investors nationwide.

The Shenzhen Securities Exchange (SZSE) has finished the evaluation of the 488 companies listed on the main board on their information disclosure for 2007. 466 companies were qualified with 42 evaluated as excellent, 232 as good and 192 as qualified.

London Stock Exchange and Borsa Italiana: Electronic Order Book Trading Grows 33 Per Cent During March

The number of electronic equity trades carried out on the London Stock Exchange and Borsa Italiana during March 2008 averaged 1.1 million per day, an increase of 33per cent on March 2007, which at the time was a record month on both exchanges’ markets. A total of 21.2 million equity trades were carried out during the month. Despite the lower market values and the very strong comparators, the average combined daily value traded also increased, up one per cent to £13.2 billion (€16.6 billion).
