The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today that the Honorable David C. Norton of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina entered an order settling charges alleging that Albert E. Parish and Parish Economics LLC, both of Charleston, South Carolina, lied to customers and misappropriated millions of dollars in customer funds (see CFTC Press Release 5320-07, April 19, 2007).

CME Group Names Yue (Nina) Chen As Director, Financial Research And Product Development

CME Group, the world's largest and most diverse derivatives exchange, today announced that it has named Yue (Nina) Chen as Director, Financial Research and Product Development. In this newly created position, Chen, 31, will be responsible for identifying and developing new product and clearing opportunities in the over-the-counter (OTC) markets. CME Group, the world's largest and most diverse derivatives exchange, and BM&FBOVESPA, the largest exchange in Latin America, have announced that the order routing of CME Group products through BM&FBOVESPA's GTS electronic trading platform is scheduled to begin Monday, February 9.

FORTS: EUR/USD And EUR/RUR FX Contracts Exceed 40,000 Volume On The First Trading Day

On February 5, 2009 futures contracts on EUR/USD and EUR/RUR exchange rate started trading on FORTS, RTS derivatives section. Trading volume in the new contracts totalled 41,516 contracts comprising 4,111 trades.

Bond Exchange Of South Africa Shareholders Approve Proposed Scheme Of Arrangement By JSE

Shareholders of the Bond Exchange of South Africa Limited (BESA) have voted in favour of the proposed scheme of arrangement put forward by the JSE Limited (JSE) on 10 December 2008 to acquire 100% ownership in BESA. The proposed merger of the respective exchanges was ratified at a shareholder scheme meeting this morning, with 100% of shareholders voting, confirming their support for the transaction at R125 per BESA share (over 75% is required).
