In the month of January 2009, BOX market share in BOX-traded classes was 6.11%, a gain over the 5.86% reported for the same period last year. Average daily trading volume on BOX was 713,214 contracts. Price improvement versus the prevailing NBBO for contracts submitted via BOX's PIP averaged $3.42 per contract. SEC Freezes Assets of Private Fund Manager Misappropriating Investor Funds

The Securities and Exchange Commission has taken emergency action against a private fund manager in Gilberts, Ill., alleging that he fraudulently obtained at least $10 million from approximately 300 investors and misappropriated the funds for personal use and to pay purported returns to investors.

SEC Halts Massive International Boiler Room Scheme

The Securities and Exchange Commission has taken emergency action to stop a massive and ongoing international boiler room scheme that allegedly sold shares of U.S. penny stock issuers to investors located in Europe by misrepresenting that investors paid no sales commissions. The SEC alleges that, in fact, investors paid commissions exceeding 60 percent of the amount invested, and the fraudulent scheme raised at least $44.2 million from 1,400 investors since March 2007.

CFTC Launches New Monthly Report - Report Will Enhance Market Transparency And Promote Protection Of Market Participants

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) announced today that it has launched, on a six-month trial basis, a new monthly report: “This Month in Futures Markets.” The report, produced by the Commission’s Office of the Chief Economist, will add transparency to the information the Commission provides the public concerning regulated futures markets by providing graphical and tabular displays on the Commission’s website.

CME Group Expands Its Suite Of Weather Contracts Into Australia

NYSE Euronext (NYX) today announced the expansion of its range of strategy indices with the launch of twelve new products based on its national indices: AEX®, BEL 20®, CAC 40® and PSI 20®. For each of these national indices, three new strategies: X3 Leverage, Double Short and Triple Short, will be now available.
