In March 2009 the RTS Index went up by 26.64% to 689.63 points as of March 31, 2009 against 544.58 points as of February 27, 2009. Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was coming from growing prices for Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) (plus 22.55 points), ??? "LUKOIL" ordinary shares (LKOH) (plus 20.92 points) and ordinary shares of OJSC "OC "Rosneft" (ROSN) (plus 17.36 points).

For the period from March 2 – March 31, 2009 the total trading volume on FORTS (Futures & Options on RTS) equaled 849.6 billion roubles or 35.5 million contracts, including 172.1 billion roubles during the evening trading session. The total open interest as of the last day of the month, March 31, 2009 reached 62.0 billion roubles or 3.7 million contracts.
