At the end of the settlement date of February 27, 2009, short interest in 2,532 NASDAQ Global Market(sm) securities totaled 6,928,787,193 shares compared with 6,782,308,848 shares in 2,533 Global Market issues reported for the prior settlement date of February 13, 2009. The end-of-February short interest represents 3.12 days average daily NASDAQ Global Market share volume for the reporting period, compared with 3.24 days for the prior reporting period.
