Nodal Exchange Achieves New Records In Power Futures (Up 61%) & Environmental Futures (Up 92%)

Nodal Exchange announced new trading records in power and environmental futures in August 2023. In power, Nodal set a calendar month record for August with 168 million MWh of traded power futures volume in the month, up 61% from the prior year. Nodal continues to be the market leader in North American power futures having the majority of the open interest with over 1.2 billion MWh.

Today, Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen met with Italy’s Minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in New Delhi. During their meeting, Secretary Yellen and Minister Giorgetti exchanged views on shared priorities ahead of Italy’s G7 presidency in 2024. Secretary Yellen expressed U.S. support for an equiproportional quota increase at the International Monetary Fund and encouraged collaboration on boosting the World Bank’s concessional financing capacity. She also inquired about Italy’s economic outlook.

Secretary Yellen thanked Minister Sitharaman for her hospitality on her fourth trip to India since she took office, the most of any country in her current role. Secretary Yellen stressed the United States’ support for India’s G20 presidency and discussed cooperation on the evolution of multilateral development banks and improving multilateral debt restructuring. Secretary Yellen also emphasized the value of the bilateral relationship and the many areas on which the United States and India are working closely together.

Secretary Yellen emphasized the U.S. support for an equiproportional quota increase at the IMF to return the IMF to a quota-based institution and secure its financing over the medium-term. Secretary Yellen also discussed the importance of increasing the voice of emerging markets and developing countries at the IMF and the need to secure the sustainability of the IMF’s Poverty Reduction and Growth Trust.
