SEC Adopts Dodd-Frank Act Amendments To Investment Advisers Act

The Securities and Exchange Commission today adopted rules that require advisers to hedge funds and other private funds to register with the SEC, establish new exemptions from SEC registration and reporting requirements for certain advisers, and reallocate regulatory responsibility for advisers between the SEC and states.

DTCC Elevates Robert Garrison To Chief Information Officer

The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has named Robert Garrison chief information officer, effective July 8. He joined the organization in October 2010 as a managing director and chief development officer of its Information Technology division.

The Securities and Exchange Commission today approved a new rule to define “family offices” that are to be excluded from the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.

From 11 July 2011 LCH.Clearnet SA (LCH.Clearnet) will provide clearing services to NYSE BondMatch, the Multilateral Trading Facility (MTF), owned and operated by NYSE Euronext and built to meet the specifications issued by Cassiopeia Committee in April 2010.

In particular, the rule would enable those managing their own family's financial portfolios to determine whether their "family offices" can continue to be excluded from the Investment Advisers Act.

TMX Group Announces Dividend Enhancements To Merger With LSEG And Reaffirms Merger Recommendation

• LSEG and TMX Group agree to a $4 per share special dividend for TMX Group shareholders, and an 84.1 pence per ordinary share special dividend for LSEG shareholders, payable on closing
• LSEG and TMX Group intend to increase their regular dividend post-merger to be consistent with the current regular dividend of TMX Group
• TMX Group Board concludes Maple's current offer has not addressed previously expressed deficiencies
• Recommends shareholders support the LSEG TMX merger and vote “FOR” the merger prior to the June 30 TMX Group shareholders' meeting
