In March 2011, a total volume of 189.2 TWh was traded on the Power Spot and Derivatives Market operated by EPEX Spot SE and EEX Power Derivatives (same month of the previous year: 103.9 TWh).

In March, the trading volume on the EEX Spot Market for Natural Gas amounted to 2,160,324 MWh (GASPOOL and NCG market areas) compared to 902,593 MWh in March 2010. The volume included 791,155 MWh traded in the Within-Day Gas product. The Spot Market price for the day-ahead delivery of Natural Gas ranged between EUR 22.30 per MWh and EUR 25.90 per MWh.

Tokyo Commodity Exchange Gold Price Topped 4,000 Yen Per Gram

At Tokyo Commodity Exchange, Inc. February 2012 gold futures contract (Back/active contract month) reached 4,003 yen/gramduring today's day session. This is the highest price seen in the past 28 years and for the first time it surpassed 4,000 yen/gram for the back contract since February 3, 1983 (4,056 yen/gram).

NYSE Euronext (NYX) today announced trading volumes for its global derivatives and cash equities exchanges for March 2011. Global derivatives average daily volume ("ADV") of 9.2 million contracts traded per day in March 2011 increased 11.9% versus the prior year. The increase in global derivatives ADV versus prior year levels was driven by a 22.8% increase in U.S. equity options ADV and a 3.2% increase in European Derivatives ADV. Cash equities ADV in March 2011 was mixed, with European cash ADV increasing 44.0% and U.S. cash trading volumes decreasing 2.1% from March 2010 levels.
