Standard & Poor's Announces Changes In The S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index

Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Thursday, June 2, 2011:
- Texalta Petroleum Ltd. (TSXVN:TEX.A) will be removed from the index. The shares of the company have been acquired by PetroFrontier Corp. (TSXVN:PFC).

CME Group Announces Publication And Dissemination Of Volatility Indexes For Corn And Soybeans

CME Group, the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, today announced it will publish volatility indexes for CBOT Corn and Soybeans beginning Monday, June 6. CME Group currently publishes and disseminates the CBOE/NYMEX WTI Crude Oil Volatility Index (OIV) and the CBOE/COMEX Gold Volatility Index (GVX). The CME volatility index calculations are performed by the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) based on the methodology developed for the CBOE Volatility Index®, or VIX®. CBOT Corn and Soybean futures and options contracts are listed with, and subject to, the rules and regulations of CBOT.

ELX Futures, L.P. (ELX), a leading electronic futures exchange, announced today that it established multiple volume records in the month of May. On Friday, May 6, ELX set records in overall exchange volume, combined U.S. Treasury futures volume and records in the 5-year note and 30-year bond.Total U.S. Treasury volume was also up 10% year-over-year for the month of May and market share was up 16%.Additionally, 1.6m total contracts were traded for the month of May and 9.3m contracts were traded year-to-date.

Dow Jones U.S. Venture Capital Index Indicates Market Value Of Venture Capital-Financed Companies In U.S. Rose 19% In Q4 2010, 23% For 2010 - Index’s Performance Tops Dow Jones U.S. Total Stock Market Index’s Results Over The Same Time Periods

The estimated market value of venture capital-financed companies in the U.S. rose 19% in 2010’s fourth quarter and 23% for 2010, according to the Dow Jones U.S. Venture Capital Index. The index’s performance topped the Dow Jones U.S. Total Stock Market Index’s gains of 12% and 17%, respectively, over the same time periods.

NSX Releases May 2011 ETF/ETN Data Reports - Monthly Net Cash Outflows Posted For First Time During 2011

National Stock Exchange, Inc. (NSX®) announced that assets in U.S. listed Exchange-Traded Funds (ETF) and Exchange-Traded Notes (ETN) totaled approximately $1.11 trillion at May 2011 month-end, an increase of almost 40% over May 2010 month-end when assets totaled over $798 billion. At the end of May 2011, the number of listed products totaled 1,254 compared to 995 listed products at the same time last year.

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) have issued an investor alert calledStructured Notes with Principal Protection: Note the Terms of Your Investment to educate investors about the risks of structured notes with principal protection, and to help them understand how these complex financial products work. The retail market for these notes has grown in recent years, and while these structured products have reassuring names, they are not risk-free.
