MEPs To Debate Banking Supervision

At 15.00 MEPs will discuss draft legislation on the EU single banking supervision mechanism with Commissioner Michel Barnier and Irish finance minister Brian Hayes. MEPs are expected to use this plenary debate to stress that accountability rules must match the supervisory powers created or transferred to EU level.

Companies listed on the Market for Alternative Investment (mai), in The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) group, reported net profits of THB 1.98 billion (approx. USD 68.27 million), a 54.34 percent year-on-year increase, in the first quarter of 2013, mainly due to effective cost control that helped boost gross profit margin to 23.01 percent.
FIA Testifies At House Agriculture Committee Hearing On CFTC

Walt Lukken, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Futures Industry Association, is scheduled to testify today before the House Agriculture Committee at a hearing titled "The Future of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission: Market Perspectives." The hearing, which starts at 10:00 a.m. Eastern, is the first of several planned by Representative Frank Lucas (R-Okla.), the committee's chairman, that will inform the committee as it begins drafting legislation to reauthorize the CFTC.

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) announced the arrangements for the adjustment to the contract terms of all open PICC Property and Casualty Co. Ltd. (PICC) futures and option contracts in existence after the market close on 27 May 2013, the business day immediately before the ex-rights day, which is 28 May 2013, to account for PICC’s 1.1 H rights shares for every 10 existing H shares.
