The Financial Information Services Division (FISD) of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) today announced that Tom Jordan, President and CEO of Jordan & Jordan, is the recipient of the fifth Market Data Lifetime Achievement Award. The honor recognizes leaders who have advanced the financial information industry over the past 25 years.  Jordan was honored during the biennial World Financial Information Conference (WFIC) in Lisbon in early October.

Russia"s First Gold ETF Begins Trading On Moscow Exchange

Shares in Russia"s first ETF on physical gold began trading on Moscow Exchange on 17 October. The fund tracks the London Gold Fixing Price, which is set in USD every trading day. The fund"s shares are denominated in USD, while trading on the Moscow Exchange will be in RUB.

LCH.Clearnet SA, the Paris-based clearing house of LCH.Clearnet Group Ltd, and NYSE Euronext today announced they have signed a new five-year contract for LCH.Clearnet SA to clear NYSE Euronext’s continental listed derivatives until December 2018. It replaces the current clearing services terms and contract, which were due to expire on 31 March 2014.

TFEX Collaborate Krung Thai Bank To Facilitate USD Futures Investors

The Thailand Futures Exchange PCL (TFEX), under The Stock Exchange of Thailand group, joins hands with Krung Thai Bank pcl (KTB) on a new service for USD futures holders, especially importers and exporters, and small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), enabling them to exchange US dollars at KTB  branches on the last trading day of the contract.

Ladies and gentlemen,  

Let me first say how happy I am to be able to address the American Bar Association here in London. However, in front of an audience full of lawyers, I feel that, in the interests of transparency I must first disclose that I was trained as an economist and early on in my career, like many other young economists, I underestimated the importance of the law. My views as a junior economist were that utility maximising individuals would find ways to cope with legal requirements, and that the shape and performance of markets were mainly driven by economic forces.

Tokyo Financial Exchange has decided to shift the leading contract month for Euroyen futures from the current June 2014 contracts to the September 2014 contracts, effective from 16 October 2013.
