The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today issued an Order filing and simultaneously settling charges against Respondents Atlantas Group, Inc. (Atlantas) and Edmund Hysni for committing solicitation fraud in connection with options on futures contracts trading on the Chicago Board of Trade and the Commodity Exchange, Inc., and against Hysni for willfully making material false statements to the National Futures Association (NFA) in connection with its investigation of the fraud.

EEX: Dairy Futures Reach Half Year Record

In the first half of 2016, EEX has reached a new record on the derivatives market for dairy products. From January to June 2016, 42,485 tonnes of commodity equivalent (which corresponds to 8,497 contracts) were traded in the EEX dairy futures, comprising 24,160 tonnes traded in Skimmed Milk Powder Futures, 18,275 tonnes traded in Butter Futures and 50 tonnes traded in Whey Powder Futures. As a result, the trading volume in these products was +454 percent above the trading volume in the first half of 2015 on EEX and Eurex. With this development, EEX has further strengthened its position as leading market place for dairy derivatives in Europe.

OCC Says Pre-Trade Risk Controls Add Resiliency To Markets

Saying its proposed rule change to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on pre-trade risk controls served as a catalyst to spur significant change in the listed equity options market, OCC, the world’s largest equity derivatives clearing organization, today said it is withdrawing the proposal.

Tullett Prebon And ICAP Restructure Transaction After U.S. Justice Department Expresses Concerns About Interlocking Directorates

The Department of Justice announced today that the restructuring of the $1.5 billion transaction between Tullett Prebon Group Ltd. (Tullett Prebon) and ICAP plc addresses the Department’s concerns that the transaction would violate Section 8 of the Clayton Act by creating an interlocking directorate. An interlocking directorate is where one person – or an agent of one person or company – sits on the board of directors of two competitors.

SEC Charges Investment Adviser With Failing To Clearly Disclose Additional Costs To Investors

EBA Notes Progress In Convergence Of Supervisory Practices Across The EU

The European Banking Authority (EBA) published today its second annual Report on the convergence of supervisory practices across the EU. The Report, which is addressed to the EU Parliament and the Council, reviews consistency in the application of the Supervisory Review and Evaluation Process (SREP) and supervisory practices in the assessment of recovery plans. The EBA's work in supervisory convergence is designed to foster comparable approaches and consistent outcomes in applying the Single Rulebook. This is necessary for a level playing field, effective supervision of cross border groups, and to identify supervisory best practices.
