The Financial Stability Board (FSB) Regional Consultative Group (RCG) for Sub-Saharan Africa met in Dakar, Senegal. The FSB RCG for Sub-Saharan Africa would like to thank Governor Jean-Claude Kassi Brou and the BCEAO for hosting the meeting for the first time.

Hello, and thank you to Chairman Behnam, David, Laura, Patti, the awards committee, and the Logistics & Operations team for making today’s awards so special for the agency. I echo my fellow Commissioners on congratulating all of the winners and nominees. I celebrate and honor the 83 exceptional CFTC employees and their well-deserved recognition across both individual and team awards. It was my privilege to participate in person last year in the CFTC’s New York Office to present the Chairman’s Awards and personally thank each honoree. What is particularly meaningful to me about the Chairman’s Awards is that they celebrate excellence, one of my core values throughout my life. Although we should celebrate excellence every day, I’m so glad we are making the time to take this day to recognize the accomplishments of our staff. More than anything else, we achieve our mission by our people.

Canadian Securities Regulators Adopt Final Amendments Related To Shortened Settlement Cycles For Mutual Funds

The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) today published final amendments that would help mutual funds that voluntarily shorten their trade settlement cycles from two trading days to one (T+1), following the transition by North American securities markets to T+1 settlement this month.

CFTC Staff Announces Updated Part 43 Block And Cap Sizes And Further Extends No-Action Letter Regarding The Block And Cap Implementation Timeline

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Division of Data (DOD) today published updated post-initial appropriate minimum block sizes and post-initial cap sizes as determined under CFTC regulations. The Division of Market Oversight (DMO) also issued a letter further extending the no-action position originally taken in CFTC Letter No. 22-03 regarding the compliance dates for certain amendments, adopted in November 2020, to the CFTC’s swap data reporting rules concerning block trades and post-initial cap sizes.

Swati examines the uncertainty inherent in forecasting medium-term outcomes during large shocks, considering the Bernanke Review and responses to it. She argues that investments in measurement and analysis offer the best preparation for future uncertainties by providing accurate and timely insights into the economy. A simplified forecasting apparatus and a Staff forecast would enable more efficient use of expertise and committee time, while providing greater transparency and accountability.
