Better Finance - Financial Repression Destroys Savings: European Savers Bailed In By ECB

At the end of 2013, at the occasion of the publication of its yearly report on the real return of pension savings, Better Finance warned of the risk of a disastrous eradication of European savings across the board. Nearly two and a half years later and the warning goes unheeded, with the European Central Bank intensifying the financial repression of European Savers by further lowering its main interest rate from 0.5 to 0.25 percent. Now this fear is spreading to all actors - savers and retirees, insurers, pension funds, even bankers - threatening the whole edifice of pensions and savings.

Hong Kong's Securities And Futures Commission Formally Adopts Initiatives To Enhance Fund Authorization Process After Pilot-Run

Following a successful six-month pilot period ending on 8 May 2016, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) today announced that it will proceed to formally adopt its initiatives to enhance the authorization process for new fund applications (Revamped Process) and for new Mandatory Provident Funds (MPF) and Pooled Retirement Fund (PRF) products.

EnterNext, the Euronext subsidiary dedicated to promoting and growing the market for small and medium-sized companies (SMEs), today celebrated Mediawan's listing in the professional compartment of its regulated market in Paris. Mediawan is a SPAC or Special Purpose Acquisition Company, set up to acquire one or more companies specializing in traditional and digital media or entertainment in Europe. The operation constitutes the first listing of a SPAC in France. To mark the company’s first day of trading, Mediawan's co-founder and chairman of the management board Pierre-Antoine Capton rang the Euronext markets opening bell.

Japan's Financial Services Agency: Decision To Establish The IFIAR Permanent Secretariat In Tokyo

At the Plenary meeting of the International Forum of Independent Audit Regulators (IFIAR) in London from April 19th to 21st, it was decided that the IFIAR permanent secretariat will be established in Tokyo.The Financial Services Agency (FSA) and the Certified Public Accountants and Auditing Oversight Board (CPAAOB) took a variety of steps to host the permanent secretariat in Tokyo.
