Securities Commission Malaysia: Commercial And Islamic Banks To Join As SIDREC Members Under Dispute Resolution Framework For Capital Markets

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) and Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) announce today that commercial and Islamic banks offering capital market services and products will become members of the Securities Industry Dispute Resolution Center (SIDREC), as part of efforts to enhance the financial dispute resolution arrangements for consumers in Malaysia. This announcement follows the SC’s amendment to the Capital Markets and Services (Dispute Resolution) Regulations 2010, which takes effect today.

- Historically high volume of trade in single-stock futures at 128.0 thousand contracts, representing an increase of 32.5 percent YoY
- Increase of the value of trade in bonds on the Electronic Order Book on Catalyst by 53.5 percent YoY
- Increase of the volume of spot transactions in gas by 97.0 percent YoY and the volume of spot transactions in electricity by 14.0 percent YoY

Change At The Helm Of Board Of Directors At SIX

Alexandre Zeller will be stepping down as Chairman of the Board of Directors at SIX at the end of September 2016. Following the merger, Alexandre Zeller successfully honed the strategy of SIX and geared the Group to meet the new demands from the international and national markets. The current Vice Chairman, Dr. Romeo Lacher, will serve as acting Chairman from first of October 2016 until a successor is appointed. The new Chairman of the Board of Directors will be announced in due course.

The value of ASX-listed stocks, as measured by the All Ordinaries Index, fell 2.0% in August 2016. This performance was in contrast to some major markets, including Hong Kong up 5.0%, Germany up 2.5%, Japan up 1.9% and the UK up 0.8%. Declines were also observed in Singapore, down 1.7% and the US down 0.1%.

The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) would like to announce the incorporation of the Securities Depository Center Company (‘Depository Center’) as a closed joint stock company fully owned by Tadawul. The Depository Center has been established in accordance with the Saudi Companies Law issued by Royal Decree No. M/3 dated 28/01/1437, with a capital of (SAR 400,000,000) divided into (40,000,000) shares, with a nominal share value of (SAR 10).
