Solactive Expands Smart Beta Offering With The Launch Of Two New Global Infrastructure Income Indices Licensed To J.P. Morgan

Solactive is announcing the release of two new indices in the infrastructure space, the Solactive Global Infrastructure High Income Index and the Solactive Global Infrastructure Income Index. These indices offer exposure to an investible basket of infrastructure companies from developed markets screened for high dividend yield and low volatility. The Solactive Global Infrastructure High Income Index offers more focus on dividend income, by only selecting stocks that are expected to pay a dividend in the next quarter. The indices are licensed to J.P. Morgan who will develop structured products for their distributor clients.

The Market Misconduct Tribunal (MMT) has handed down its decision that Mr Cheng Chak Ngok , former executive director, chief financial officer and company secretary of ENN Energy Holdings Limited, had not engaged in insider dealing in the shares of China Gas Holdings Limited in 2011.

Hong Kong's Securities And Futures Commission Reprimands And Fines Merrill Lynch Far East Limited & Merrill Lynch (Asia Pacific) Limited $15 Million Over Internal Control Failures

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has resolved its concerns with Merrill Lynch Far East Limited (MLFE) and Merrill Lynch (Asia Pacific) Limited (MLAP) over internal control failures. Under the resolution, the SFC reprimanded and fined them a total of $15 million for breaches of the Code of Conduct and the Internal Control Guidelines (Notes 1 & 2).

Exchange Council Welcomes The Main Lines Of The European Commission’s Clean Energy Package - Introduction Of Trading Until Delivery In Germany Approved

EPEX SPOT’s Exchange Council extensively discussed the European Commission’s so-called “Winter Package” and its impact on spot markets at its quarterly meeting. The “Clean Energy Package for all Europeans”, published on 30 November 2016, provides a regulatory framework to reach the climate and energy goals set for 2030. The Exchange Council supports the Commission’s proposals, particularly concerning the reinforcement of competitive, non-discriminatory and market-based energy markets and regarding the further integration of wholesale markets. “From our point of view, a functioning Internal Energy Market delivering meaningful and reliable price signals is the cornerstone to achieve Europe’s climate and energy targets in a secure, cost-efficient and sustainable way,” explains Jean-François Conil-Lacoste, Chairman of the EPEX SPOT Management Board. EPEX SPOT however also suggested several improvements regarding the proposed measures: A further assessment of the financing of the Market Coupling Operator function is needed according to the Exchange. The Council members furthermore discussed the pros and cons of technical price limits on Day-ahead and Intraday markets and see the need for further debate on this issue.

ESMA Sees Increase In Financial Consumer Complaints

The number of complaints regulators have received in the first half of 2016 by financial consumers has increased, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) says. ESMA’s recent report on trends, risks and vulnerabilities (TRV) reveals that the total number of complaints reported across the EU was 7,026 in 1H16 compared to 5,152 in 2H15.
