SIFMA Recommends Revisions To Volcker Rule In Comments To OCC

SIFMA yesterday responded to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) request for comment on how the regulations implementing the Volcker Rule should be revised to better accomplish the purposes of the underlying statute and its impact on the efficient functioning of markets to facilitate growth.

The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) today issued an Order filing and simultaneously settling charges against Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated (Merrill Lynch), a registered Futures Commission Merchant, for failing to supervise its employees’ and agents’ handling of the firm’s response to a CME Group Inc. (CME Group) investigation into futures block trade execution and recordkeeping practices at Bank of America, N.A. (BANA), a Merrill Lynch affiliate.

Yesterday, EEX registered a new record volume in Phelix-DE Futures, the new reference product for European power. Throughout the day, a volume of 2.48 TWh was traded. The previous record was achieved on 6 September with a volume of 2.35 TWh.
