SEC: Daniel Gregus Named National Associate Director Of Clearance And Settlement Examination Program

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that Daniel Gregus has been named National Associate Director of the Clearance and Settlement examination program in the agency’s Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations (OCIE). Mr. Gregus has successfully led this program in an acting role since October 2016.

In connection with a monthly share savings plan for employees of subsidiaries, Oslo Børs VPS Holding has sold a total of 3234 shares. New holding is 7143 shares. Employees paid a share price of NOK 116.41 per share, but were allowed a discount of 20% on purchases up to NOK 1250.

- Earnings per share (adjusted) up 14 per cent year-on-year in Q2/2018
- Net revenue rises to €1.4 billion in the first half of 2018 (+ 11 per cent)
- Adjusted net profit for the first half of 2018 at €533 million (+15 per cent)
- Results for the first half of 2018 are thus fully within the guidance

Meeting Between Monetary Authority Of Singapore (MAS) And Securities And Exchange Board Of India (SEBI)

On 24 July 2018, SEBI and MAS held discussions on various issues of cooperation, including the amicable resolution of the NSE and SGX issue. Both regulators agreed that the collaboration between both authorities would be further strengthened so as to derive benefits for capital markets of both the countries. Both regulators also agreed that NSE and SGX would carry out necessary discussions to come up with a solution that is acceptable to both the parties.

EGX Chairman Distributes Risk Management Training Programme Certificates To Brokerage Firms

The Egyptian Exchange (EGX), on Thursday, concluded the training program "Risk Management" in cooperation with the Investor Protection Fund (IPF), which was held over two weeks attended by representatives of more than 135 brokerage firms. The program aimed at developing the capabilities of the risk management employees of the brokerage firms and to enable them to design effective policies to enhance and strengthen their companies. The free two-day training program included two cycles, each of which attended by almost 70 brokerage firms from Cairo and Alexandria.

ETFGI Reports ETFs And ETPs Listed In The US Experienced Net Outflows Of US$1.49 Billion During June 2018

ETFGI, a leading independent research and consultancy firm on trends in the global ETF/ETP ecosystem, reported today that US listed ETFs and ETPs saw net outflows of US$1.49 billion during June 2018. This is the third time during 2018 that US listed ETFs/ETPs have seen net outflows, following February and March. (All dollar values in USD unless otherwise noted.)

New Paper Predicts Industry Must Cope With Five Times More Reports Than Actual Trades Once SFTR Takes Effect - Paper Highlights The Impact Of Securities Finance Trade Reporting On The Industry Including Collateral Supply, Liquidity And Operations

A paper on the impact of the Securities Financing Transactions Regulation (SFTR) reveals that transaction reporting for securities financing trades may create five times as many reports as trades when the regulation takes effect, which is expected in early 2020. The paper was jointly published by The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), the premier post-trade market infrastructure for the global financial services industry, and its consultancy partner: The Field Effect.

IMF Chief Economist Maurice Obstfeld To Retire

Maurice “Maury” Obstfeld, Economic Counsellor and Director of the Research Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), will retire from the Fund at the end of December 2018, Managing Director Christine Lagarde announced today. Mr. Obstfeld, who has served in the post commonly known as “Chief Economist” for more than three years, will return to the Department of Economics at the University of California, Berkeley.

CFTC Commitments Of Traders Report Special Announcement

Effective with last week’s Commitments of Traders report, Commission staff had reclassified some traders, removing some from the index classification while adding others. These positions were fairly small but in the aggregate they were noticeable. Only the Supplemental Commodity Index report was affected by these revisions. Commission staff periodically evaluates these classifications and will change a classification in light of new or additional information.
