Nigerian Stock Exchange Weekly Market Report For May 24th 2019

A total turnover of 1.698 billion shares worth N57.895 billion in 24,328 deals were traded this week by investors on the floor of the Exchange in contrast to a total of 1.172 billion shares valued at N17.887 billion that exchanged hands last week in 18,380 deals.

ESMA Launches Call For Evidence On Position Limits In Commodity Derivatives

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has today launched a call for evidence on position limits and position management in commodity derivatives. ESMA launches this call for evidence in the context of the reviews it must perform under MiFID II, together with the European Commission (EC), and is seeking stakeholders’ input to develop an informed view of the issues to be considered and addressed.

SEC Awards $4.5 Million To Whistleblower Whose Internal Reporting Led To Successful SEC Case And Related Action

The Securities and Exchange Commission awarded more than $4.5 million to a whistleblower whose tip triggered the company to review the allegations as part of an internal investigation and subsequently report the whistleblower’s allegations to the SEC and another agency.

ESMA Consults On Indices And Recognised Exchanges Under The Capital Requirements Regulation

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has today published a Consultation Paper proposing amendments to the main indices and recognised exchanges under the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR). ESMA considers it necessary to introduce amendments to the Implementing Technical Standard (ITS) to ensure that the most updated list of main indices and recognised exchanges is incorporated into the legislative text.

UK’s Financial Conduct Authority Confirms Extension Of The Temporary Permission Regime Deadline

The FCA has today confirmed the deadline for notifications for the temporary permissions regime (TPR) will be extended to the end of 30 October 2019. TPR would allow EEA-based firms passporting into the UK to continue new and existing regulated business within the scope of their current permissions in the UK for a limited period, while they seek full FCA authorisation
