  • ESMA Warns CFDs Providers On Application Of Product Intervention Measures

    The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the EU’s securities markets’ regulator, has today published a statement addressed to providers marketing, distributing or selling contracts for differences (CFDs) to retail clients. The statement is in response to various practices and situations observed in the market, which raise concerns of non-compliance with the legal requirements applicable when providing services to retail clients.

    BITPoint Japan experienced a cryptocurrency hot wallet infringement on 11 July 2019 at 22:12 Tokyo time. The amount of the loss was around JPY 3.5 billion. BITPoint is an exchange with legal license, regulated by Japan Financial Services Agency. Therefore, all the related-security incidents need to be reported to Japan Financial Services Agency.

    The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has banned Mr Song Peng, a former account executive of Phillip Securities (Hong Kong) Limited (Phillip Securities), from re-entering the industry for 10 months from 12 July 2019 to 11 May 2020 for breach of the SFC’s Code of Conduct.
