ICE Launches 10 Carbon Credit Futures Vintages Extending Out To 2030

Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE), a leading global provider of data, technology, and market infrastructure, announced that it has launched 10 new Nature-Based Solutions Carbon Credit futures contracts, providing a carbon credit futures contract portfolio which allows market participants to buy, sell and hedge carbon credits from 2016 out to 2030.

Substantive Research Publishes Buy-Side Reaction To SEC MiFID II No-Action Letter Expiry - Latest Asset Management Survey Examines Attitudes To Impending Structural Market Changes That Put Over $100m Of Annual Research Payments At Risk

- Views are split on whether brokers becoming Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) solves research payment challenges, while Research Payment Accounts (RPAs) for the buy side are not considered a desirable option. Either way, they cannot be implemented in time.
- 60% believe the most likely outcome is that global US brokers will be paid entirely in Europe for research consumed in both regions.
- 68% believe that this change will mean market share further consolidates to the bulge bracket firms, decreasing competition in the research market, which has already been hit by MiFID II’s deflationary effects on research pricing.

Digital FMI Consortium Set To Explore New Era For Money

A cross-industry consortium is being launched in the UK to reimagine and test new payment rails for the global financial system, the Digital FMI Consortium announced. The new group – standing for 'Digital Financial Market Infrastructure (DFMI)' – is the body behind Project New Era, the UK's first privately-led Digital Sterling (dSterling) pilot, set to launch in the autumn.
