Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission Bans Chan Ka Hey For 6 months

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has banned Mr Chan Ka Hey, a former relevant individual of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited (SCBHK), from re-entering the industry for six months from 28 July 2022 to 27 January 2023.

China-Switzerland Stock Connect Officially Launched

On July 28, 2022, Mr. Fang Xinghai, Vice Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, and Ms. Daniela Stoffel, State Secretary of the Swiss Federal Department of Finance, jointly announced the official launch of the China-Switzerland Stock Connect and delivered speeches. Mr. Wang Shiting, Chinese Ambassador to Switzerland, attended and addressed the launch ceremony, followed by speeches of Mr. Thomas Zeeb, Head Exchanges of the SIX Swiss Exchange, Mr. Cai Jianchun, President of the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and Ms. Sha Yan, President & CEO of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. The launch ceremony was also attended by Mr. Wang Guojian, Deputy Director-General of the Capital Account Management Department of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange and Mr. Kong Qingwen, General Manager of China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation Limited.

Investor Communications Japan (ICJ), a joint venture by Broadridge Financial Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:BR), a global Fintech leader, and the Tokyo Stock Exchange Inc. (TSE), announced today that the number of share-issuing companies on its electronic proxy voting platform (the Platform) has exceeded 1,700 listings, an increase of 499 companies since June 2021.

EGX Index Committee Approves The Semi-Annual Periodic Review Of EGX’s Indices

EGX30, EGX30 CAPPED, EGX30 TR (EGX30 CAPPED, EGX30 TR are having the same constituents of EGX30) witnessed the exclusion of 3 companies with a new 3 companies abiding to the eligibility criteria. EGX50 EWI index witnessed the exclusion of 8 companies in return to be replaced by 8 new companies. 20 companies were excluded from EGX70 EWI index, 1 of them joined EGX30 index. Finally, EGX100 EWI witnessed exclusion of 19 companies with a new 19 companies.

ASIC’s First DDO Stop Orders To Prevent Offer Of Financial Products To Consumers

Bursa Malaysia Announces RM127.4 Million Profit After Tax And Zakat For The First Half Of 2022

Bursa Malaysia Berhad (“Bursa Malaysia” or the “Exchange”) recorded a Profit After Tax and Zakat (“PAT”) of RM127.4 million for the first half ended 30 June 2022 (“1H2022”), a 39.4% decrease from RM210.4 million reported in the previous corresponding half ended 30 June 2021 (“1H2021”). The decrease in PAT is due to lower operating revenue by 26.4% to RM309.4 million from RM420.2 million in 1H2021, primarily caused by a decline in securities trading revenue. Meanwhile, total operating expenses saw a 1.9% decrease to RM143.2 million in 1H2022, compared to RM146.1 million in 1H2021.
