Chicago Stock Exchange Continues Record-Breaking Pace In 2001 - New monthly and Daily Share Volume Records In January - Share Volume Up 54 Percent Over January 2000 - Trade Volume Up 18 Percent Over January 2000

The Chicago Stock Exchange (CHX) today announced another record share volume month in January. Total share volume reached an all-time high of 2,936,053,571, up 54 percent from January 2000, surpassing the prior record when share volume reached 2,683,424,275 last March. Trade volume for the month finished at 5,834,567, an increase of 18 percent over last January.

Domestic turnover in January was EUR 58,767.0 million, foreign turnover EUR 3,015.6 million, Nuovo Mercato, Domestic, EUR 4,386.3 million, Nuovo Mercato, Foreign, EUR 42.6 million and on the Ristretto market EUR 52.7 million.

Barclays Global Investors and The Nasdaq Stock Market® announced today that on February 9, 2001, a new exchange traded fund (ETF), the iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology Index Fund, will trade on The American Stock Exchange® under the ticker symbol IBB. With the iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology Index Fund (also known as the iShares Nasdaq Biotech index stock), the stocks of the Nasdaq® Biotechnology Index can trade for the first time as one security.

Management Changes At The Oslo Stock Exchange

There have recently been certain changes in the senior management team at the Oslo Stock Exchange. Håvard Abrahamsen, Senior Vice President, Equity Markets, and Per Eikrem, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications, have joined the senior management team, whilst Tor Birkeland, Executive Vice President, has left the Oslo Stock Exchange. Anders Brodin has taken over Mr. Birkeland´s role as Deputy to the President and Chief Executive Officer.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) today announced that a record for the largest one-day volume in a single class was established when 221,206 contracts (148,855 calls and 72,351 puts) traded on Cisco Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq symbol CSCO, CBOE symbol CYQ) on Tuesday, February 7th.
