Winnipeg Commodity Exchange Posts More Canola Futures Open Interest Records

A new open interest record for Nov canola futures contracts of 45,967 was set at Winnipeg Commodity Exchange (WCE) this week. This level goes into the books as the all-time record for any WCE futures contract. The previous record of 45, 414 contracts was reached for the July canola contract on May 24, 2001.

S&P Postpones Start Of New Index

Standard & Poor's, a leading provider of financial information and investment analysis, today announced postponement of the launch of its Income Trust Index in Canada, originally scheduled to commence operation at the end of June 2001. Due to the unique nature of this product, additional time is required by Standard & Poor's to complete the necessary research for this index and its sub indices, the Energy Trust index, and the REIT Index. The index launch will take place later this fall.
Meeting Of The Board Of Oslo Exchanges On 21 June 2001

At a meeting held today, the Board of Oslo Exchanges resolved to admit shares in Odim Hitec, Domstein, Acta Holding and Golar LNG Ltd. to listing. The Board also resolved to remove shares in Customax and SAS Norge from listing. The Board imposed a violation charge on E-Line Group for a breach of the duty of disclosure.

KCBT Wheat Futures Open Interest Sets New Record

For the first time, Kansas City Board of Trade wheat futures open interest has exceeded 91,000 contracts. At the conclusion of trade on Thurs., June 21, open interest in KCBT wheat futures stood at 91,261 contracts, which is representative of 456.305 million bushels of wheat. The previous record-high open interest record of 90,033 records was set on Oct. 13, 2000.
