CME-Chematch Benzene, Mixed Xylenes Futures To Begin Trading Friday, Oct. 19

Chicago Mercantile Exchange Inc. (CME) and CheMatch.com, Inc., will inaugurate trading in their first jointly developed chemical futures contracts on benzene and mixed xylenes beginning Friday, Oct. 19, at 10:00 a.m. (Central Time).

CFTC Adopts More Flexible Regulations For Intermediaries

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has revised many of its key rules governing firms that serve as intermediaries in commodity futures and options transactions: futures commission merchants, introducing brokers, commodity pool operators, and commodity trading advisors. These revisions will also affect associated persons of these firms, as well as floor brokers and floor traders. Consideration of further regulatory relief is expected in the near future.

HKEx To Introduce Three-year Exchange Fund Note Futures Contracts

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) will introduce Three-year Exchange Fund Note (EFN) Futures contracts for trading on Monday, 12 November, subject to the approval of the Securities and Futures Commission. EFNs are issued by the Hong Kong Government. They serve as monetary policy instruments for the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and help establish the benchmark yield curve for the Hong Kong dollar debt market. CBOT Announces Lower Transaction Fees For New Mini-sized Contract

The Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT®) today announced it will lower exchange transaction fees, effective immediately, for the following mini-sized contracts launched on September 30: DowSM futures based on the DJIASMSM (DowSMJones Industrial Average); 30-year U.S. Treasury Bond futures; 10-year U.S. Treasury Note futures; and New York Silver and New York Gold futures. In addition, the CBOT® is offering free quotes for its mini-sized futures for CBOT® data vendors through December 2001.

The Central Bank Of Iceland Auctions Repurchase Agreements For 36.2 Billion Krónur

The Central Bank of Iceland held a weekly auction of repurchase agreements on October 16 of the maturity of 14 days. The auction was a fixed rate one at 10.9 per cent p.a. Offers were made for a total amount of 36.2 billion krónur resulting in repurchase contracts for that amount.

LSE Submission To European Commission Consultation

The European Commission is consulting on proposed changes to the disclosure obligations of companies. The consultation is seeking to consolidate all disclosure requirements into one text and ensure that EU requirements are applied to all securities of issuers traded on "regulated markets".
