Under Secretary of the Treasury Jay Shambaugh today met with the appointed Ambassador from the People’s Republic of China Xie Feng. The meeting was candid, constructive, and part of ongoing efforts to maintain open lines of communication and responsibly manage our bilateral relationship. While raising issues of concern, Under Secretary Shambaugh emphasized the importance of the two largest economies closely communicating on global macroeconomic and financial issues and working together on global challenges.

IMF Executive Board Approves FY2024–FY2026 Medium-Term Budget

On April 27, 2023, the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund considered the 2024-26 financial years (FY24-26) Medium-Term Budget against a complex global economic backdrop. While the pandemic is receding in many countries, the global impact of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, intensifying geopolitical fragmentation, and multi- decade high inflation have contributed to a significant rise in demand for Fund financial support and for more granular surveillance advice. Small Business Advisory Committee June Meeting To Focus On Capital Raising And Reducing Funding Gaps For Underrepresented Founders

The Securities and Exchange Commission’s Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee today released the agenda for its meeting on Wednesday, June 14. The Committee will start the morning session by hearing from its members about marketplace trends in small business capital raising. In the afternoon session, the Committee will discuss ways to remedy the funding gaps for underrepresented founders and startups. Drawing from their breadth of experiences and views, Committee members will also consider potential areas of focus for future Committee meetings.

US Office Of The Comptroller Of The Currency Releases CRA Evaluations For 21 National Banks And Federal Savings Associations

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) today released a list of Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) performance evaluations that became public during the period of May 1, 2023, through May 31, 2023. The list contains only national banks, federal savings associations, and insured federal branches of foreign banks that have received ratings. The possible ratings are outstanding, satisfactory, needs to improve, and substantial noncompliance.

EBA Releases The Technical Package For Phase 1 Of Its 3.3 Reporting Framework

The technical package provides standard specifications and includes the validation rules, the Data Point Model (DPM) and the XBRL taxonomies for this phase of version 3.3.

SEC: Second Commission Statement Relating to Certain Administrative Adjudications

On April 5, 2022, the Commission issued a Statement Relating to Certain Administrative Adjudications (the “April 5 Statement”) describing a control deficiency related to the separation of enforcement and adjudicatory functions within the agency’s system for administrative adjudication.  As the April 5 Statement explained, for a period of time, certain databases maintained by our Office of the Secretary (“OS”) were not configured to restrict access by staff from our Division of Enforcement (“Enforcement”) to memoranda drafted by staff from the Adjudication Group (“Adjudication”) in our Office of the General Counsel (“OGC”).  As a result, in a number of adjudicatory matters, administrative support staff from Enforcement responsible for maintaining Enforcement’s case files accessed Adjudication memoranda via OS’s databases.  In many instances, those administrative staff also emailed Adjudication memoranda to other administrative staff for potential upload to Enforcement databases; once uploaded, the memoranda became accessible more broadly to Enforcement staff.
