As in the past few years, the ATX outperformed international peers again in 2004. At a year-on-year plus of over 57 percent, the domestic stock index performed much better in 2004 than leading international indices such as Dow Jones, FTSE and the DAX. The growing significance of the CEE economic region as an investment opportunity region is highlighted by the excellent performance of the Hungarian leading index BUX (+ 57 percent).

The Financial Services Authority (FSA) today announced the appointment of Sir Christopher Kelly KCB as the new Chairman of the Board of the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS). The Board runs the single ombudsman scheme set up by the FSA under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 to deal with complaints against the financial services sector.

Incorporated (Morgan Stanley) and Goldman, Sachs & Co. (Goldman Sachs) relating to the firms' allocations of stock to institutional customers in initial public offerings (IPOs) underwritten by the firms during 1999 and 2000.
