SEC: General American Life Insurance Company, Former Senior VP Settle Late Trading Charges

The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced a settled enforcement action against General American Life Insurance Company and a former senior vice president, William C. Thater, for their roles in a late trading scheme. General American is a St. Louis-based insurance company and subsidiary of MetLife, Inc.

Commissioner Roel C. Campos of the Securities and Exchange Commission today announced that he intends to leave the Commission in a month's time and plans to return to the private sector. Currently serving his second term, Mr. Campos was first appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate as a Commissioner in August 2002.

Standard & Poor's will make the following changes in the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index after the close of trading on Thursday, August 9, 2007: The Buffalo Oil Corporation (TSXVN:BFO) will change its name to Buffalo Resources Corp. following an amalgamation with Choice Resources Corp. Dow Jones Indexes, a leading global index provider, today announced the launch of seven Dow Jones Recovered Papers Indexes, one for each U.S. region that participates in physical transactions of OCC #11 grade corrugated paper. The Dow Jones Midwest OCC #11 Index, the first index in the series, was launched in February 2006.
